PvGPS is used for maintenance tasks in PVinstallations by determining the PV output power of the system, thedaily energy production, the clear-sky global solar radiation andother parameters associated with solar position from GPS data. Thecalculation of these parameters allows the user to know if the PVplant is working properly. In the case the application is used infixed PV installations where no tracking system is implemented,these data help the user check if the PV module support structuresare correctly oriented, and offer him an overview of the power lossdue to the non-tracking installation.Note1: The scientific equations used for calculating temperatureeffect on the PV modules have demonstrated in literature to provideoptimal results for poly/mono-crystalline based modules, but noreference for thin film modules is purveyed.Note2: The app calculates the theoretical maximum for installationswith solar tracking system, considering that the modules are alwaysoriented towards the sun. This is a software application for mobilesthatallows calculating the asociated parameters related toposition andthe relative distance Earth-Sun: extraterrestrialsolar radiation,incident radiation in the Earth with clear sky,hours of sunshine,equivalent evapotranspiration, etc. Thisapplication is an improvedversion of RaGPS, that was developed ina previous work for WindowsMobile devices. This new applicationoperates under Androidoperative system. The aparience of theapplication is completelyrenewed. The current tendencies in mobileapplications are used inthis software. New methods for capture andintroduction ofcoodinates, visualisation of maps with Google Map,and obtaining ofcoordinates by means of selection in the map areincluded. Moreoverthe done height in the coordinate by means ofthe Web service isincluded. Graphical helps for easy use of thetool are provided. Thecaptured information may be send not only bySMS but by means ofBluetooth, e-mail, social networks, etc.
